Burgers & Bacon

Tonight, we decided to grill out.

First step...preparing the burger patties. Now, Rachael has done this before and she is getting really good at it. You mush the meat all up between your fingers (her favorite part) and then add the usual salt, garlic powder, pepper and worcheshire (sp?). This time, however, Rach got a little ahead of herself and promptly added about 4 tablespoons of garlic salt. eek! they tasted great though, we compensated by adding a little olive oil.

Now, the best part of Rachael's cooking tonight was the bacon. We got the bacon out of the fridge and thankfully, rachael knew to start by getting a pan out. I thought most people know how to cook bacon, but I was wrong. I knew I was in the wrong when Rachael asked if we put butter in the pan. Ahh! I immediately explained to her that this is not Medea in Diary of a Mad Black Woman.

Then, god bless rachael, but I see her cross contaminate the hell out of half the kitchen. I decide to gently explain that you cant do that by explaining that on my fave tv shows that are cooking competitions, people get eliminated for cross contaminating. Rachael ponders this and really looks like she's in deep thought before she looks at me and says with a lot of sincerity "I don't want to get eliminated" as if it could actually happen.

So now the bacon's cooking and I say it's probably time to flip and she says ok. I walked away to take care of something else and I overhear Rachael saying to herself  "Oh, geez, now how am I gonna do this."

Needless to say, dinner ended up being great and we both were clueless as to how to cook corn in the microwave so Rachael saved the day with her google skills.

  1. You can cook bacon in the microwave too. Just use a million papertowels.
